Nokomis Shotokan Karate (NSK) is a neighborhood dojo offering world class Shotokan karate instruction by Sensei Michael Fusaro. Our dojo offers a warm and welcoming environment in a large beautiful, wood-floored space. Classes are rigorous and high spirited, and provide a challenge appropriate for all levels of karate learning.
Why train Shotokan karate?
Brought to Minnesota in 1957 by Master Sensei Robert Fusaro, Shotokan Karate was founded in 1928 in Okinawa by Gichin Funakoshi. Shotokan karate emphasizes humility, respect, compassion, patience, and both an inward and outward calmness through physical training and focus. As Funakoshi wrote, “The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of the participant." For those looking for the “whole” workout experience, try Shotokan karate at NSK!
The NSK dojo is located in the Nokomis East Neighborhood, with easy access just 2 blocks from Crosstown Highway 62. Nokomis Shotokan Karate serves karate students ages 10 and up, all belt levels.
Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00-11:00 am.
